Startup of the Week - TaxScouts

by Startacus Admin
Tax returns made easy thanks to TaxScouts, the FinTech startup which is shaking up how personal taxes are done in the UK....Ever had to complete a self-assessment tax return? If you have, chances are you’ve put the task off as long as you could and have ended up submitting it at the very last minute or, worse still submitted it late and been hit with fixed penalty as a result. It can be pretty understandable why this is the case. After all, filing a tax return can be time consuming, confusing and of course dull! That however need no longer be the case thanks to our latest startup of the week.
TaxScouts is a FinTech startup which is shaking up how personal taxes are done in the UK.
To use the service, you simply initially answer a few questions from the ‘taxbot” on the TaxScouts site. This will then determine which documents are required for your particular tax return - invoices or receipts etc. You can upload the relevant documents or if easier, just take a photo on your phone. All the relevant info is collated digitally and then an accountant is assigned to you and they set about preparing your tax return and sending it to you to review. Once you approve it, it can be submitted. Job done for another year!
And the fee for this service?
You’ll pay £119 inc. VAT, irrespective of what type of tax return has to be submitted. A pretty small fee when you consider how much easier the entire process is.
In essence, TaxScouts is a digital tax advisor.
It works by combining an automated service with a team of accountants and fittingly describes itself as “half robot, half human”!
We love what TaxScouts have created here and we reckon that anyone who has ever had to complete a self-assessment tax return will no doubt agree!
