Startup of the Week - Tapoly

by Startacus Admin
The innovative startup Tapoly, that offers on demand insurance that covers the risks of consumers in the sharing economy market
Whilst the sharing economy has brought a lot of opportunities and flexibility galore, it has also brought some challenges. For example, there are obvious risks which are taken when you are letting out your property or lending your car.
Likewise, whilst the gig economy has provided freelancers and contractors with plenty of opportunities to work in a very non-traditional way, there are still plenty of risks which can be incurred.
Our latest startup of the week has recognised this and is on a mission to provide insurance to cover the type of risks that can arise.
Tapoly is to offer “on demand insurance that covers the risks of consumers in the sharing economy market”.
Whether you need insurance to cover the short term rental of your apartment or you are lending your bike to your colleague, you will be able to access the cover you need for the time that you need it directly from Tapoly. It’s an on-demand service which you can activate whenever you need to.
For freelancers, Tapoly can provide cover to suit any short term project or contracts. You might be working from home, but you will still have to provide a quality service to your clients and therefore you’ll need to ensure that you’re adequately covered should you have an unhappy client who wishes to sue if they’re not satisfied with your work!
It is clear that the insurance sector is quite traditional and in many ways does not meet the requirements and needs of the growing sharing and gig economies. By recognising just that, the Tapoly folk have identified a significant gap in the market and are working hard to provide the perfect solution.
We reckon that this innovative 'coming soon' InsurTech startup which is providing insurance on demand is certainly one to watch.
