Startup of the Week - Tailster

by Startacus Admin
We’re known for being a nation of pet lovers, yet sometimes it can still prove quite a chore getting someone to look after our beloved Fido whilst we go on holiday. Yes - of course there are the local kennels, however having that more personal touch is surely much better. Well...thanks to our latest Startup of the Week, finding an alternative to kennels has just become a whole lot easier.
Tailster is an innovative new platform which effectively acts like an online marketplace for pet services.
Here’s how it works:
If you need a dog sitter - while you’re at work, while you’re on holiday or simply just not around for a while, you can use the Tailster site to search for a dog sitter near you. You can choose someone who will look after your dog at your own home, at their home or even perhaps someone who can take your canine buddy for his daily walk.
Using a simple mapping service, Tailster enables you to find the dog service you need much easier than ever before.
What is especially good though is the fact that all those listed on the site who provide dog services are put through a stringent and rigorous vetting process which ensures that your dog is in safe hands at all times.
Each service provider basically sets their own fees and prices and some even do it for free! Sheer love of animals being their primary motivation - not money!
If you’d like to provide a service, whether in a professional capacity or simply because you have a passion for dogs, you can register for free on the site and create your Dog Carer profile.
You’ll pay a 15% commission to Tailster for any bookings that are made via the platform. Pretty reasonable when you consider the level of exposure that you’ll be getting as a result of being part of this online dog loving community - wouldn’t you agree?
Like any online marketplace, the more people use it, the better it becomes. We reckon then that you encourage all your dog loving pals to check Tailster out and thereby help it grow from strength to strength.
