Startup of the Week - Stuffstr

by Startacus Admin
Stuffstr is an innovative app that is tackling the waste issue within the fashion sector...
The issue of waste has been to the forefront for quite a while now - and rightly so.More and more startups are addressing sustainability and the impact that our actions have on the environment. Our latest startup of the week is a prime example and has a focus on one area in particular - fashion.
Stuffstr is a social enterprise dedicated to increasing sustainability around the clothing we buy.
It’s a pretty straightforward concept. Firstly, Stuffstr partners with clothing brands and collates data on products which those brands have sold - within the last five years.
Then, if you have an item of clothing that you no longer wear or want, you can check on the Stuffstr app and see how much the company will pay to buy that item back.
Stuffstr will then send a courier to collect the item from you where it is then taken to a sorting facility and either sold second-hand or is sent on to be recycled, depending of course on the condition and quality.
Once Stuffstr has the item, you’ll be paid via the app.
No need to spend time listing it on an online site, sorting out the shipping and of course waiting for your payment - Stuffstr does it all for you.
For a consumer, it makes complete sense. You can recirculate your clothes, keep them out of landfill and thereby have a positive impact on the environment.
Stuffstr provides brands with data and info on products that are being returned. This in turn can help those brands with their future product development - from the quality of what they are selling through to the prices they are charging.
And for the environment? The advantages are clear.
Stuffstr - we’re loving your work!
