Startup of the Week - Stocking Box

by Startacus Admin
If you love surprises and you’re into all things handmade, then we reckon you’re going to be a big fan of our latest Startup of the Week. Stocking Box is a subscription based startup which delivers a box full of handmade items from designer-makers directly to your door.
Every month the Stocking Box team are on a mission to source interesting, unique and quirky craft and design pieces to be included in a box. Whilst the pieces may all be different, what they all have in common is the fact that they are handcrafted by a designer-maker from somewhere within the UK. Previous boxes have contained items as diverse as a Honey Bee Greeting Card with Wild Flower Seeds and a Ceramic Brooch in the shape of a Jammie Dodger biscuit! Each box also contains a little info and background on the individual designer-makers whose products are featured.
As with most subscription services, you can subscribe for set periods - 3, 6 or 12 months, as a one-off or even as a gift for someone else if you’re feeling particularly generous.
It’d be fair to say that subscription based startups are a bit of a ‘thing’ at the moment but that is no way a criticism. As a business model, it makes complete sense and is certainly a little less risky. However what we particularly like about Stocking Box is the fact that as a startup itself, it is on a quest to support other startups - the independent crafters, designers and artisans.
We therefore doff our proverbial caps to them for doing their bit to support and help the self start society.
People after our own hearts!
