Startup of the Week - RoomPik

by Startacus Admin
If you’ve ever been looking for somewhere new to live and thinking about house sharing, then you’ll know only too well that it’s never that easy!
There are the usual practical issues of checking out the place itself, the neighbourhood it’s in and of course the all important costs. However where it can get a tad difficult is when you are trying to find out a little more about the people who you would be house or flat sharing with.
That very issue is what our latest Startup of the Week is on a mission to address.
RoomPik is a new iOS app which will help you find the perfect roommate whether you’re sharing a house or a flat.
Rather than simply enabling you to search for a new place in the usual ways - by location, cost or facilities etc, with RoomPik you can also search for info on the people you’d be sharing with.
Want to share with people who have similar interests to you? You can.
Fancy living only with people who work in the same profession or industry as you? That’s possible too.
And of course if you’d like to live with people who are ‘friends of a friend’, people with whom you share mutual friends, you can do that too!
As you’d expect, RoomPik works the other way as well. If you’ve got a spare room to rent, it’s the perfect resource to help you find a new room or flatmate - one who you’ll have something in common with and hopefully therefore like!
The app makes it easy for would-be roommates to communicate directly with either landlords or existing roommates - thereby cutting out the middleman - something which is especially useful in areas with high demand where decent properties can get snapped up really quickly.
RoomPik is a straightforward service but a useful one. There are spare rooms being advertised in major cities all across the world and as the app grows in popularity, the numbers and locations of rooms will increase too.
If you’re on the lookout for a new room or flatmate, we reckon it’s well worth giving RoomPik a shot.
