Startup of the Week - Petal Plan

by Startacus Admin
Petal Plan is our latest startup of the week - a UK startup that is on a mission to innovate how we both buy and receive the gift of flowers...

And whilst we are all now pretty used to ordering flowers online, it can sometimes seem a little dull to browse through pics of potential bouquets or displays. The creative touch that a good florist can bring is not always apparent. That however is something that our latest startup of the week is aiming to address.
Petal Plan is “an online flower gifting service that does things differently”.
Their view is that flowers shouldn’t be chosen simply by a customer browsing an online catalogue. Instead they feel that each bouquet should be created by an expert florist using only the freshest flowers available.
Customers can either choose a price, style and colour palette, or alternatively can ask the Petal Plan folk to choose for them.
This brief is then given to one of their handpicked, independent florists who will create the bouquet and arrange delivery to the recipient. No more dull or boring floral arrangements, instead each bouquet is personalised and created using seasonal, fresh flowers.
One added feature which we particularly like about Petal Plan is its flexible delivery option. Here’s how it works. Customers can send a card to someone, letting them know that they have been sent flowers. It is up to the recipient then to decide when they want to receive the flowers and also where they should be delivered.
No more arriving home from a weekend away to discover a bunch of wilted blooms on the doorstep or no more receiving multiple bouquets of flowers at the same time and then running out of vases to put them in! With Petal Plan, the recipient can choose when they’ll get their flowers.
It’s a pretty clever idea and like most clever ideas, it makes you wonder why nobody has thought of it before!
