Startup of the Week - Ninety Percent

by Startacus Admin
With London Fashion Week almost upon us, we thought it’d be quite timely for a fashion focused business to be our latest Startup of the Week.
However, the business in question is not just leading the way in terms of its stylish designs and the quality of the garments it creates; it is doing much more than that.
Ninety Percent is a “premium womenswear label where aesthetics meets ethics.”
Here’s how it works:
Order a garment from the Ninety Percent online store and you’ll find a unique code printed on the care label. You can then visit the Ninety Percent site and read about the causes that they are currently championing. Enter your code and vote for your preferred cause. At the end of the financial year, the Ninety Percent folk use these votes to determine how much each of the charitable causes will get from 90% of the company’s distributable profits.
80% of those profits are shared with the causes, 5% shared with those who make the clothes and 5% with those who run the brand.
The charitable causes currently being supported are Children’s Hope, War Child UK, Wild Aid and the Big Life Foundation.
As you can see then, this truly is fashion with a conscience. It’s so refreshing to see a fashion label which is more about people (and of course products) than profit.
The underlying mission of Ninety Percent is to create an innovative consumer movement that empowers both makers and wearers.
It’s a mission which we wholeheartedly support.
Ninety Percent - we’re loving your work…
