Startup of the Week - MyPlasticDiary

by Startacus Admin
The accolade this week goes to MyPlasticDiary, an innovative app which will enable you to track, understand and reduce your plastic footprint
It’d be fair to say that most of us want to be more environmentally-conscious and reduce the amount of plastic that we use. It’s not always that easy though. We may have the best intentions to reduce our plastic consumption yet it can still be a challenge.
If you’d like to be more proactive in ensuring that you reduce the volume of plastic that you use, we reckon that our latest startup of the week will be right up your street.
MyPlasticDiary is an innovative app which will enable you to track, understand and reduce your plastic footprint.
Here’s how it works. Firstly, you can use the app to record and track details of all plastic packaging that you consume or that you get with your daily or weekly shopping.
The app’s interface is extremely user friendly and intuitive so it’s pretty straightforward to enter details of the packaging items.
By tracking your plastic usage like this, you’ll have a much clearer idea of how much plastic you typically use.You can then adopt a more proactive approach by setting yourself some goals to reduce what you use and the app will measure your progress against these.
You’ll also be able to look at the stats and see what the biggest culprits are that are contributing to your plastic footprint. It’s easier then of course to make more conscious decisions and perhaps figure out some plastic free swaps that you could make.
The app also has in-built rewards and provides you with feedback to keep you on the right track and encourage you to keep going.
You can share details of your journey and successes on social media so that you can in turn inspire other people to follow suit and take positive steps towards reducing their plastic intake as well.
Using an app like this might seem like quite a small first step in addressing our plastic consumption, but we reckon it’s most certainly an important one…
