Startup of the Week - Makerble

by Startacus Admin
If you’ve started 2014 with a resolution to start doing something good, then we reckon this week’s Startup of The Week is well worth a look.
Makerble is ‘the world’s first charity projects subscription service.’
This innovative startup has made the whole notion of donating to charity not just easier but also much more transparent. After all, over the last few years, many of us have become increasingly cynical and perhaps sceptical about where the money actually goes when we donate our hard earned cash to charities. Also, with more and more charities all vying for our donations it’s pretty difficult to weigh up which one is more deserved of our help.
Makerble is set to change just that.
Basically, you begin by choosing the causes and charities that most interest you and the amount of money you wish to donate each month. Using its catalogue of charities, Makerble then will select a stream of projects that match your interests.
Project progress updates are provided so that you can see exactly how your donation is making an impact. Once a project is completed, impact stats and pics are published too and you can see this in your own personal Change timeline. Makerble allows you to share that on Facebook too.
The main advantage of course is that you can see as things progress the real impact and value that your contributions are making.
Of course it doesn’t end once a project finishes. Makerble will then add a new project to your stream - again in line with your favoured causes and interests. It’s a win win. Charities benefit. You benefit.
We love what these guys are doing. We reckon you will too.The Startacus Startup of the Week is supported by Rackspace, the global leader in cloud hosting.
