Startup of the Week - Libereat

by Startacus Admin
The lowdown on Libereat, the Scottish startup that’s on a mission to simplify how people living with dietary restrictions shop and eat
If you've got food allergies or intolerances, you'll know only too well how it can at times be a challenge. Whether that's when you're scanning labels for allergens when you're in the supermarket or if you're in a restaurant ( remember those? ) and you're scrutinizing the menu for certain ingredients that are a no-no.
The good news is that need no longer be the case thanks to our latest startup of the week.
Libereat is an app that simplifies how people living with dietary restrictions shop and eat.
Its fundamental aim is to take the anxiety out of eating!
When you use the app, you can build your profile based on the most common food allergens and any other ingredients that you generally would like to avoid. When we do start to eat out again, you can use the app to scan and filter restaurant menus so that you can fully be aware of what you'll be able to eat in advance. When you're shopping, the app will scan barcodes so you'll be able to quickly determine if a product is suitable for you. There are also heaps of recipes on the app which have been collated from users and bloggers so you'll have lots of inspiration for meals.
The app offers everything you'd need in one place - from product scanning and menu filtering through to a recipe bank.
Libereat is a fab resource and we reckon that it's an absolute must for anyone with a food allergy or intolerance. We love the name too!
