Startup of the Week - Kitche

by Startacus Admin
Kitche is an app that aims to make you waste less food and save more money...
Let’s face it - food waste is not just an issue for the big players - the supermarkets and the restaurant chains. In fact, our startup-of-the-week from last week Cogz is also tackling food waste directly...It’s been said that the average UK household discards about £70 of food every month too. Therefore we all ought to play our part in addressing this issue. And thanks to our latest Startup of the Week, we can do just that.
Kitche is an innovative app that aims to help us reduce our food waste at home and also save money in the process.
Here’s how it works.
Simply scan what you’ve got in your cupboards and fridge by taking a pic of your supermarket receipt.
Kitche will then enable you to keep track of what food you have bought and give you reminders of what you’ve already got at home. You can also add in dates so that it’ll also remind you of when you should use up products, thereby helping to reduce your food waste.
One of the best features of Kitche is the fact that it can provide you with smart, healthy recipes based on the ingredients that you have. Forget those frustrations that we’ve all had when we’ve looked at a recipe only to discover that we are missing a vital ingredient - Kitche provides recipes based on what you already have.
The app has thousands of recipes and there are more being added all the time.
No excuses then for not knowing what to make!
By having this record of the food you have and use, you’ll of course also be able to identify any food that you don’t use.
Therefore you’ll have a reminder on your next supermarket visit what you should and should not buy. It’s all about minimising waste and of course smarter and more economical shopping!
What’s not to love about that...
