Startup of the Week - Kind Bag

by Startacus Admin
Kind Bag is a startup that's tackling plastic pollution by transforming used plastic bottles into a range of beautiful, fashionable and reusable bags...
As we all know, our use of plastic has had a seriously detrimental impact on the environment. And whilst we may be more conscious of it and aiming as individuals to do our bit, anything which can in some way help to combat it, ought to be welcomed with open arms. Step forward our latest startup of the week!
Kind Bag is a startup that’s on a mission to “combat plastic pollution accelerating the use of recycled material in the fashion industry”.
And how do they do this?
They’ve transformed used plastic bottles into a range of beautiful, fashionable Kind Bags.
Each Kind Bag is made from 100% recycled RPET material, has wide straps so you can carry it more easily and a wider bottom to enable you to carry more than you realise. In fact, it has the same capacity as 2-3 regular plastic bags. They’re water-resistant, machine washable and lightweight. And they’re durable - they can be used for anything - from shopping to going to the gym and they feature all sorts of designs so you’re bound to find one that you like.
Whilst more of us are now trying to use more eco-friendly bags these days, what is really interesting is that not all seemingly eco-friendly bags are actually good for the environment. For instance, cotton and paper bags are much more expensive to produce so, despite being made of plastic, the Kind Bag is a much more environmentally-friendly option than that cotton tote you generally haul around!
And the Kind Bag folk aren’t just intent on doing their bit to reduce plastic waste, they also donate a percentage of their profits to charity.
As they state, “It’s not just another reusable shopping bag…”
