Startup of the Week - Greenius

by Startacus Admin
Whether it’s for economic reasons, environmental reasons or simply for the sheer enjoyment of it all, it’s apparent that these days more and more of us are growing our own vegetables. For some of us it’s simply a new found hobby whilst for others it’s a lifelong passion. Whichever camp you may fall into, we reckon our latest Startup of the Week is well worth a look.
Greenius is an innovative new platform which is bringing people who love growing their own food together- whether they do it in a farm, a balcony garden or an allotment!
Here’s how it works:
In essence you create a profile or ‘plot’. That plot is a visual representation of your garden - a graphic layout if you like. You then select the plants that you are growing from the list provided and add it to your plot to create a patch for that particular vegetable. Simples huh?
Then it gets a lot more social. You can add posts about any gardening activities that you undertake - whether it’s planting seeds or picking something for that evening’s meal. By using hashtags, other members of the Greenius community can add in their comments about what you’re up to, share some tips or even answer your questions, provided of course that you’ve hashtagged the word #question !
The use of the hashtags will help you connect with other gardeners who can share their knowledge, give some advice or even simply comment and admire your work!
Gardening can be a pretty solitary activity and whilst it’s great for helping us re-connect with the earth, it’s not always that great for helping us engage with other people and network. That’s probably one of the best things about Greenius - it’s adding a real social element to growing your own.
Whether you’re an experienced gardener or a novice, we reckon Greenius is well worth checking out. Happy Gardening folks!
