Startup of the Week - Gogomargo
Whether you're a craftster, artisan or simply a fan of all things handmade and bespoke, one of the biggest issues you can face is not only where to sell your wares but also where to buy them if you want to support fellow craftspeople and artists.
If you happen to be in a new city and are unfamiliar with your surroundings it can be even worse. Our latest Startup of the Week however is aiming to change that once and for all.
The folks over at Gogomargo have taken this challenge head on, and created a new community that points you in the right direction of your nearest craft fairs, local workshops and markets.
Currently in beta, Gogomargo requires you to use your twitter account to sign in. This isn't a bad thing, as they've rightly pointed out, it eliminates the need to remember another pesky password, or upload an avatar, its pulled directly from your twitter account. It also makes it easier for the likes of fair organisers, stalls and such upload their information to gogomargo.
The website is constantly being improved with new and innovative features, such as when you 'like' an event, it can automatically be saved to your calendar, and the ability to share an event on your Facebook or twitter using the in-site buttons. Best of all, the website is completely optimised for mobiles and tablets.
Whilst of course there are many marketplace websites out there for selling hand made and crafted items and the like, the real life events and fairs etc still have an important role to play.
Anything which helps all you crafty see self starters do your own thing ought to be supported. Gogomargo - we're loving your work!
