Startup of the Week - Frog

by Startacus Admin
Frog is a unique new platform created by a Glasgow-based startup that uses video to help users discover mental health and wellbeing information...
Let’s face it. We have all had a tough year, facing all sorts of challenges in our daily lives as a result of the pandemic. It’s therefore more important than ever that we look after ourselves - one way and every way.
So, with World Mental Health Day taking place this week we thought that it would be quite timely to have a startup of the week that has our mental wellbeing at its very core.
Frog Systems is a Glasgow based startup that has created a mental health and wellbeing video platform that utilises the lived experience to deliver help and support.
The Frog platform features a Champions Cinema which is a directory of short videos from other people who share their own stories of hope and support, They outline how they dealt with and overcame their own personal challenges and share positive messages of encouragement to help others that may be going through something similar.
There are videos that cover all sorts of topics, such as depression, addiction, abuse, debt and bereavement. The video content can be filtered based on the perspective of the person featured - Lived (self), Shared (carer), or Practitioner (professional). It can also be filtered by location, gender, topic or even age.
The video portal enables users to hear other people’s relatable stories and therefore goes some way to helping them realise that they are not alone, that there should not be any stigma with what they are facing and that other people have been in similar situations.
What is particularly interesting about Frog is that when a video is selected, the platform identifies the video’s subject matter and then displays relevant local support services and resources on the same page.
By combining the videos with the relevant sources of support, Frog is therefore providing a wholly unique solution for the discovery and delivery of mental wellbeing information.
It aims to help people take that first step in seeking help and get the support that they need.
And that can only be a good thing...
