Let’s face it. Every market sector has had a tough time of it in recent years and the food industry is no exception. Therefore any business which aims to help an entire industry not only survive but to thrive too, ought to be supported - something that is exactly what our latest Startup of the Week is trying to do.
FoodTrade is in essence a search engine for food businesses. Whether you’re a buyer or a food producer, this platform is for you.
Food producers - be they farmers, bakers or cheesemongers can create a profile outlining where they are, what they produce, highlight any certifications or awards they have received and basically showcase their produce.
Food buyers - be they from large catering groups or independent cafes can use the platform to connect directly with producers and source the best quality and freshest produce for their customers. They can choose to connect with local providers and thereby demonstrate a real community commitment to their customers.
The basic premise of FoodTrade is to be a platform which enables businesses to do business and to help them be more sustainable. The knock-on effect of that of course is that the economy benefits - not just nationally, but at a local level too. What’s not to love about that! After all, it’s a win-win for all concerned!
