by Startacus Admin

Procrastination be gone! Focusmate is an innovative startup which has created a virtual co-working space providing distraction-free productivity.
If you’re a freelancer or if you regularly work from home, chances are you may sometimes find it difficult to concentrate on your work. It’s very easy to procrastinate and get distracted when you’re in your own home environment. That of course is one of the main reasons why co-working spaces are so popular. Simply being around other people can be a huge motivator.
However for those of us who can’t access a co-working space or who want to continue working from home, but become more productive in the process, help is now at hand, thanks to our latest startup of the week.
Focusmate is an innovative startup which has created a virtual co-working space which provides distraction-free productivity.
The premise is quite simple.

Schedule your session and then you’ll be matched with another co-worker, who you’ll be connected with for 50 minutes (i.e. the duration of each Focusmate co-working session).
You’ll ideally start by saying hello and sharing what work or tasks you plan to do during the session. Then you’ll both get to work. There are no long conversations, it’s not about collaboration - it’s simply about working independently whilst at the same time knowing that you’re not alone. At the end of the session you can have a quick catch-up to see how it’s all gone.
Research and studies have apparently shown that having a human connection like this can significantly reduce procrastination and improve productivity levels.
Whilst it may initially seem a little odd to work in this way, if it helps you concentrate and get more done, it’s bound to be worth it!
Focusmate is currently free to use so it’s probably the perfect time for all you freelancers or lone workers to try it out.
