Startup of the Week - FabAllThings

by Startacus Admin
If design is your thing, our latest Startup of the Week is one that ought to be on your radar.
FabAllThings is an online platform for both design lovers and makers alike.
Its premise is quite simple.
Firstly a Design Call is made on a bimonthly basis for a particular product - this month it happens to be Natural Amplifiers; previous months have seen calls for products as diverse as Lasercut Clocks and 3D printed jewellery.
Designers can then submit their design according to the brief which usually outlines the entire specification - from a product’s shape and size through to the materials it’s made from.
Once designs are submitted, they then go to a vote. The products with the most votes are the ones that get made. Simples!
It’s at this point that FabAllThings comes into its own though - they take care of prototypes, manufacture, photography, marketing and selling of each of the voted products. The entire process of bringing a product from design stage through to marketable stage is handled by the FabAllThings team.
The designer gets accreditation for their work and a split on any profits made.
The FabAllThings platfom provides an opportunity for up and coming designers to showcase their creativity, get some exposure and of course make some money. The voting function and the community element also add a real social element to the entire product creation process.
Whether you’re a designer, a maker or simply a lover of all things unique, we reckon you’ll see real value in FabAllThings.
We heart it.
Lots.
