Recognising this and in a bid to help, our latest startup of the week have devised a solution.
Downyourhighstreet.com is an online marketplace where you can buy goods directly from independent retailers all in one place.
All the products and items featured on the site are unique, high quality and are all sold by UK businesses. Any independent retailer with a physical store in the UK and who can ship their products countrywide can use the platform to showcase those products and thereby increase their potential customer base well beyond the confines of their actual geographic location.

There are no hidden fees - retailers are simply charged a 15% commission on any sales generated via the platform.
There are all sorts of reasons as to why footfall in our high streets is lower than it once was and why more and more retailers are struggling to get by. However if we are truly committed to ensuring our high streets survive, we ought to be doing what we can to support them.
This startup is enabling us to do just that. It’s providing us with an easy way to support independent retailers whilst at the same time providing those retailers with a much needed boost. A win win for all concerned then, wouldn’t you agree?
