Startup of the Week - CrowdFarming

CrowdFarming! The startup that's on a mission to create a transparent food supply chain by developing a direct link between consumers and producers...

CrowdFarming is an online platform that is on a mission to connect people directly with the origin of their food.
The primary way that it does this is via adoption projects. You simply browse these projects and select which you’d like to support by adopting.Fancy adopting a cow in France? If you do, you could receive a harvest of Comté cheese each season. Or, you could adopt a wheat field in Italy and in return you’ll receive a box filled with artisanal and authentic pasta made from the organic flours that are produced from the wheat. If olive oil is more your thing and you adopt an olive tree in Spain, you’ll receive a box filled with a variety of Extra Virgin olive oils each season.
Each adoption project provides you with a detailed bio of the farmer or producer - everything from how long they have been farming, the methods they use, right through to the location and size of the farm.
Many of the adoption projects will also allow you to arrange a visit to their farm and see for yourself how it all works.
When you adopt, you are not entering into a long term commitment. You adopt, receive your harvest and then it’s up to you whether you renew or extend the adoption.
CrowdFarming also offers a Buy a Box feature where you can buy everything from boxes of clementines direct from a farmer in Valencia through to organic grapefruits from a farmer in Sicily.
The core goal of the CrowdFarming platform is to provide a transparent food supply chain by creating a direct link between consumers and producers and based on the variety and quality of projects they have featured on the platform currently, they are certainly succeeding.
CrowdFarming - we love what you’re doing!
