Startup of the Week - BorrowFox

by Startacus Admin
Borrowfox - the peer-to-peer startup that's creating the UK's largest film and camera equipment rental marketplace.
Whether you’re a professional photographer who just can’t justify buying that extra piece of kit at the moment or a freelance film-maker who only needs a piece of equipment for a one off project, we reckon our latest startup of the week will be right up your street.
BorrowFox is a “peer to peer rental platform, stocked with state-of-the-art camera and film equipment from local professionals”.
Recognising that not only does film and camera equipment cost a lot to buy, but that it is also very expensive to hire and insure from the usual sources, the BorrowFox team have created an online marketplace aimed at solving this very problem.
It’s a straightforward platform to use.
Equipment owners can upload details of their equipment on the site, including photos, rental prices and other relevant info such as maximum rental period or discounts for longer rental etc.
Borrowers then simply browse through the film and camera equipment which is available to rent, compare prices and once they’ve made their selection, they can pay the rental fee and arrange to collect the equipment. Once they have returned it, they can then submit a review on the site.
All equipment listed is insured by BorrowFox and all prospective borrowers are also verified so it’s a very safe system for all concerned.
There are no membership or annual fees to be paid although as you would expect BorrowFox do take a small fee from each transaction. They’ve gotta make money after all!
All sorts of products are listed on the site - from DSLRs and Cinema Cameras through to Quadcopters and Projectors. The items featured though are all high quality professional products.
BorrowFox is providing a service for which there is most certainly a demand and since collaborative consumption is undoubtedly here to stay, we reckon this startup is definitely one to watch.
