Our annual list of key startup and tech focused events and conferences taking place in the UK and Ireland returns for 2019.


It’s another year, and so we have another annual list of key startup events taking place in the UK and Ireland throughout the year. Some of these are new to the list and some are triumphantly returning from success last year. So open your diary and sharpen your pencil.

January

StartUp 2019 -19th (sorry that we are too late with this one) 

It’s year 5 for Enterprise Nation’s huge, one-day event, bringing you over 100 entrepreneurs and business experts. This year, the show takes place at King’s College, London.

February

London Blockchain Week 2019 - 8th-14th

It’s the 5th year for Blockchain Week, too, for 7-days of talks and workshops, kicked off by a blockchain hackathon.startup and tech events uk and Ireland 2019

Finovate Europe - 12th-14th

Cutting-edge fintech demos, real world applications provided by business leaders, hundreds of financial institutions passionate for change, plus an additional summit day on open banking and artificial intelligence on the 15th. Over 1400 attendees, more than 65 firms demoing, and over 120 expert speakers, all under one roof at Tobacco Dock, London.

NACUE Student Enterprise Conference 2019 - 23rd-24th

The 10th annual Student Enterprise Conference takes place at the University of Kent in Canterbury, and is the largest of its kind in Europe. Talks, keynote speakers, demos, and a lot of startups to educate and inform students and graduates on everything they need to know about enterprise.

March

QCon - 4th-8th

A conference for senior software engineers and architects, QCon follows up its 3-day conference with 17 workshops. This year, over 140 speakers are coming to the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre.

Startup 54 brings together ambitious change-makers, young professionals, and aspiring tech entrepreneurs to form teams, build prototypes, and launch business ventures in just 54 hours. Ideate, build, pitch.

DataFest - 11th-22nd

For the third year, this huge, two-week festival of data innovation in the form of 6 events all over Scotland. From hackathons, to keynote speakers, to summits, to executive dinners, Scotland is the place to be for data-centric startups in March.

Advertising Week Europe - 18th-21st

As well as events in New York, Tokyo, Mexico City, and Sydney, AWE will be held at Picturehouse Central in London for its 7th year. It will feature unique media, marketing, technology, and creative perspectives discussing key business trends and issues, that shape today’s global industry.

TechNOVA - 27th

From banks to start-ups and insurers to investors, TechNOVA: AI in Financial Services will gather together the greatest minds to expand understandings of AI and build practical knowledge on how to develop real, implementable systems. Taking place in Shoreditch, London.

April

WomenHack - 4th

An invite-only recruiting event in Canary Wharf, London, focused on connecting top female software engineers, UI/UX designers, and product managers with opportunities at tech companies around the world, run by a community that empowers women in tech through events, jobs, and reviews.

Dublin Tech Summit - 10th-11th

Europe’s fastest growing tech conference of over 10,000 attendees and more than 200 speakers from 70 countries, DTS is building a community of innovators, thought startup and tech events uk and Ireland 2019leaders, and influencers that are affecting change globally and inspiring younger generations. 

Leeds Digital Festival 23rd April - 3rd May. 

Leeds is home of Channel 4's National HQ and also the Leeds Digital Festival, a city-wide festival celebrating all things digital. With a reported 20,000 attendees and operating as an open platform event, which means any individual or company can take part, we look forward to hopefully attending ourselves this year. 

Blockchain, Big Data, AI, Cyber Security, and IoT Expo - 25th-26th

While technically 4 separate conferences, these are run by the same people, in the same place, on the same days. 12,000 attendees, over 500 speakers, and more than 350 exhibitors will flock to London’s Olympia to explore the future of these most recent and promising technologies.

Innovate Finance - 29th-30th

The Innovate Finance Global Summit is coming to London’s Guildhall for its 5th year of bringing together expert speakers, stakeholders, and decision makers to talk about the key areas enhancing, empowering, and safeguarding the FinTech sector today and in the years to come.

Newcastle Startup Week - 13th-17th

Newcastle Startup Week and Scaleup Summit is a 5-day and -night festival that inspires and helps hundreds of people to start or grow their business in the North East of England.

Adobe’s London learning and networking event for professionals in 12 content tracks, from advertising to design to machine learning. Hear from leading experts in sessions and labs, and learn new strategies to transform your business and customer experiences.

Inspirefest 19 - 16th-17th

Head to Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, Dublin, to hear from over 60 of the greatest minds on key trends in science and technology from Blockchain to AI, Med Tech to Biodiversity, Future of Work to Augmented Reality. With over 3,000 professionals attending from 48 countries.

Tech Connect Live - 30th

This free to attend event is Ireland’s largest annual business and technology exhibition for Micro, SME, and Enterprise level companies, and sees over 5000 delegates and 200 speakers come to Dublin’s RDS.

June

Startup Grind Europe - 6th

At the Startup Grind Europe Conference over 3,000 startups, investors, and innovators will converge in London for discussions around the future of startups, venture capital, artificial intelligence, fintech, and more.

MoneyConf - 10th-12th

5,000 attendees from over 80 countries will network and learn from the industry’s leading  bitcoin, cryptocurrency, and fintech experts at RDS Dublin. Expect insightful keynotes, hands-on workshops, and evening networking.startup and tech events uk and Ireland 2019

London Tech Week - 10th-14th

Over 55,000 attendees from more than 90 countries flood London to attend London Tech Week’s 300+ events, listening to speakers talk about everything from leadership to VR to AI to blockchain. It connects international communities from across the spectrum to address how access to tech for all can have a profoundly positive impact in society and business.

Digital DNA - 18th-19th

Digital DNA is a 2 day business and tech event surrounding 8 key themes including Marketing, Data, Fintech, Cyber Security, DevOps, and Innovation. Access over 100 exhibitors across 45 industries throughout Northern Ireland.

August

Turing Fest - 27th-29th

Bringing the smartest people in global tech to Edinburgh. Be part of a diverse audience of founders, engineers, product managers, marketers, investors, and more, coming together to learn and connect.

Deep Learning Summit - 19th-20th

90 speakers come to London to bridge the gap between the latest technological research advancements and real world applications in business and society.

October

Dublin Startup Week - tbc dates

The Techstars Startup Week Dublin powered by Dublin City Council brings entrepreneurs, local leaders, and friends together over five days to build momentum and opportunity around Dublin's entrepreneurial identity. Currently pencilled in for Oct, we will update dates as more is confirmed. 

Bread & Jam - 3rd-4th

The UK’s first food founders’ festival, this is a 2-day conference and bootcamp in London. It brings together food and drink founders, innovators, investors, and industry leaders for keynote speakers, panel discussions, workshops, and more.

Startup Summit - 30th

One of the UK’s leading events for entrepreneurship, Startup Summit invites the next generation of entrepreneurs to engage with experts, build a network and gain valuable tools for long-term success. Over 1000 attendees, 30 speakers, and 9 workshops, all under one Edinburgh roof.
