Starter for 6 - Call for Entries

If you’re based in Scotland and have an idea for a business or project within the Arts or Creative Industries, you’ve only a couple more weeks’ left to apply for the Starter for 6 Programme. If you’re unsure if your idea would fall within the “Creative Industries” remit, here are the main areas it covers: Advertising, Architecture, Art and antiques markets, Computer and video games, Craft, Design, Designer fashion, Film and video, Music, Performing arts, Publishing, Software and TV & Radio.
A pretty extensive list!
To be eligible to enter you need to:
- have an innovative idea for a creative business that is also sustainable
- be either at the pre-start stage or be trading for less than one year
- own or control any intellectual property necessary for the idea to be implemented
- be living in Scotland or have been registered there for tax purposes for at least 12 months
- plan to set up and operate your business in Scotland
- be able to attend any of the scheduled training dates
Successful applicants will reap a whole host of benefits. As well as being provided with dedicated enterprise training sessions to help improve their business skills, mentoring and coaching sessions and extensive networking opportunities, they will also have the opportunity to pitch for up to £10000 grant funding at the end of the programme.
The whole programme is geared towards helping creative entrepreneurs get their ideas off the ground and since its launch in 2009, that is exactly what it has done.
