November 2013
Time flies and its November already! Don't forget that the weekly Self Starter of the Week awardees are all in the running for 1K's worth of consumer Market Research via our friends at Marketest - by winning the Self Starter of the Year Award. The what you ask? Well here's a handy link with all the details. Anyhow here's the November winners below...
25th November 2013
Self Starter of the Week - Hayley Woodham
Why?
Where do we start. Hayley wrote on Startacus back in May this year and although that is not uncommon, her startup story is inspiring.
Her journey from unemployment, developing depression, anxiety, along with agoraphobia through to starting her own business is really motivational and worth a read if you need a push. So if you need a definition of a self starter - Hayley Woodham is a great example. Hayley's business, an online Pet Boutique called Poodles and Pompadours offers a shop full of retro and vintage inspired handmade accessories and apparel for dogs. A big Startacus 'cheers' to Hayley.

Self Starter of the Week - Jennifer Duthie
Why?
Well, its hard to argue against this selection. She might be a newbie member to Startacus and also a young entrepreneur, but there's something fab about this wise lady...and if the shoe fits..(sorry). Jennifer quit the corporate World back in 2011 and whilst she has a few e-commerce businesses under her belt, her latest and acclaimed startup Skribbies is a great idea and an even better looking product. A kids shoe that allows the kid to draw and customise their own shoes and wipe it clean and start all over again. Love it and 'tick' potential christmas pressie too! Congrats Jennifer and great to see you on the Startacus site!

Self Starter of the Week - Gideon Thomas
Why?
Gideon is proof that being a self starter doesn't necessily mean making the "next big thing" or reinventing the wheel with some new tangled startup. It can be, just taking that step from passion and interest into something (music in Gideon's case) and doing something about that passion, to turn it into a career (or indeed just a paid hobby). Gideon has by all accounts big plans and we look forward to hearing more about them as his career progresses! All rise Self Starter Gideon Thomas! :)

Self Starter of the Week - Janet Wilks
Why?
Janet is a newish member to Startacus but she's already made a wee impression on the Startacus team. She is also proof that self starters aren't just those of us doing something to become self employed and self sustaining (she is that too), but also those who help others to realise their self employment and startup dreams. Great to have you on the site Janet and a big high five from the Startacus team!
