#Startacus looks forward to #SMW12 (Social Media Week 2012)

by Startacus Admin
Whether you are based in London #smwldn Glasgow #smwglasgow or pretty much anywhere else in #theworld or just looking to follow the whole thing online #SMW12 can well claim to be the global event for Social Media fanatics and fans, this year occuring the 24th - 28th September.
Social Media Week’s mission is to help people and organizations connect through collaboration, learning and the sharing of ideas and information - sounds like a nice ideal - a bit similar to Startacus really.
In a world where some 200 million tweets are sent per day, 175 million people use Facebook daily and you are more likely to update your social network profiles than chat to your mates, Social Media Week is a reflection of how our lives are now intrinsically linked with our online activity.
But stripping this back, how much do we really talk to our neighbours, work partners and perhaps even other businesses doing similar things, that are just right on our own doorstep as opposed to a ' stranger' based across the globe?
Social Media Week is a platform to get all of this thinking, chat and discussion together, but then to also spread the word, the lessons and the learning, globally via all of the social network channels we use and live through...
Covering everything to do with social media from advertising and business development through to science, society and environment, this is a global event that ticks many of the boxes and if you cannot get to one of the key 14 global SMW locations, you can still feel involved as there is of course plenty going online.
Check out the Social Media Week Schedule here and take a look at the promo video below to work out if #SMW12 is for you...
