Stamp Free - the digital postage solution

by Startacus Admin
No stamps or postage labels required! Edinburgh-based startup Stamp Free has created a digital and convenient alternative to traditional mail as we know it.
Stamps. Perhaps not the bane of our existence, but we have all been in the position of needing to post something, but we don’t have any stamps in the house. Now, instead of simply throwing it in the postbox at the end of the street, we have to find the time to visit a post office to buy a little bit of sticky paper to put on the corner of our letter or parcel. But with everything else available to buy and pay for online, shouldn’t there be a way to send your letter or parcel and pay for that online too?
Edinburgh-based startup Stamp Free thinks so. With their award-winning ‘Stamp Free Digital Postage Solution’, all you need is the app and a pen.
All you need to do is select the kind of postage you need in the app, pay for the postage (also there in the app), write the unique digicode it provides onto the letter or parcel, and then verify it by scanning it into the app with your phone’s camera. Then you just need to post it within 7 days and everything else goes as you would expect from putting something in the postbox. Validation is done during the sorting process as it would be with a normal stamp, and you can track the progress of your package in the app. This works with postal services, couriers, and locker banks, and Stamp Free is trialling the platform around the globe.
In 2021, Stamp Free won the Retail and Customer Service Innovation of the Year award at the Parcel & Post International Expo. In May of this year, the startup announced that it had raised £600,000 in an oversubscribed funding round led by R42 Group and Cambridge Angels, with participation from technology angel investors from the UK, US, and Australia. This will go towards further developing the platform, ramping up marketing, and gaining traction around the world.
