Innovative agritech startup, Small Robot Company raises £4million to support its mission to maximise food production while reducing the cost on the environment
We’re delighted to share the news that Small Robot Company (SRC), a British agritech start-up for sustainable farming, has just raised £4 million in a successful equity crowdfunding campaign with Crowdcube.
Some of you may recall that Small Robot Company’s CEO and Co-founder Ben Scott-Robinson was one of the fab keynote speakers at our LevelUp event earlier this year and so we’re thrilled (and not at all surprised) at this news!
The Crowdcube campaign was supported by over 2500 retail investors and actually raised its initial £2m target on the day of launch, and then, having reached the stretch ceiling of £4m, the campaign was closed early.
Small Robot Company's mission is to maximise food production while reducing its cost on the environment. Using robotics and artificial intelligence, it has created an entirely new model for sustainable, efficient and profitable farming. Its farmbots Tom, Dick and Harry will plant, monitor and treat arable crops autonomously, with minimal waste.
Speaking of the investment, Co-founder Ben Scott-Robinson comments: “This funding round is transformative to Small Robot Company. The investors have provided us with the resources to deliver on our promise, to both farmers and corporate customers. It is proof, not only that Small Robot Company is technically capable of delivering the change that farmers need, but that there is overwhelming public and industry support for delivering our vision, and the need for per plant farming in the food system of tomorrow.”
The company has now secured £11 million in funding to date and this latest investment will be used to finance its service for farmer and corporate customers with Per Plant data, the commercialisation of its Per Plant Action capability and the acceleration of AI modelling.
Small Robot Company has already achieved so much yet we reckon its real impact is only just beginning!
