Skyports - innovation in the sky

by Startacus Admin
Innovation in the sky is the focus for London-based drone focused startup Skyports, that's creating end to end cargo and passenger drone delivery solutions
Drones have taken a bit of a back seat in startup world news lately, mainly replaced by artificial intelligence being crammed into every possible product and service.

But that’s certainly not to say that their place in our future has been overstated. Amazon has already started delivering by drone, there's on-demand insurance for drone pilots and we will see drone delivery services become the norm in the near future, and they are also widely used for filming and simple entertainment. Perhaps the next step is taking drone technology and using it for bigger cargo, such as passengers.
London-based Skyports develops and operates drone delivery services globally to reduce businesses’ costs and improve their services.
Businesses who can make use of drone deliveries can’t be expected to create the solution themselves, so Skyports works with them to tailor a drone solution to their needs and perform all of the regulatory requirements and paperwork needed. Whether drones are to be incorporated into logistics operations, including critical industrial deliveries, transport of medical products and samples, or delivery to customers, Skyports is making itself the go-to company.
Perhaps the more ambitious aspect of Skyports, though, is that they are creating a connected infrastructure network to enable urban deployment of drone services. Skyports is the first to market in securing, designing, building, and owning passenger and cargo ‘vertiports’ or ‘skyports’ around the world. Currently, they are operating from their hometown of London as well as Los Angeles and Singapore.
It may seem too futuristic to imagine walking into a skyport and climbing into a drone to be flown to the other side of the city rather than getting a taxi or bus, but the future is coming fast. As Skyports say themselves, ‘Infrastructure is a key enabler for the existence of any physical or digital network. Without roads there would be no cars.’
They are getting ahead of the curve and putting in place the necessary infrastructure for the coming implementation of passenger drones. We think we might let other people test them when they are, but it will be interesting and exciting to see!
