Skwish aims to be the project management tool of choice for freelancers

by Startacus Admin
Skwish is a start-up project management tool for freelancers; currently on their first round of
crowdfunding with invesdor.
Millie Burke, Founder and CMO of Skiwsh; explains what Skwish is and how helps freelancers and start-ups focus more on their work and less on the administrative side of their business.
Can you describe Skwish?
Skwish is a fast growing platform for freelancers, start-ups and the self-employed to manage clients, projects, income, feedback and collaborations.
What Does Skwish Do?
Skwish is a project management tool with a freelance/self-employed edge. It solves some of the biggest issues freelancers face while running their businesses including project feedback and sign off quoting and income tracking and being paid or being paid on time. Often freelancers find it can be challenging managing clients and their relationship in payment scenarios.
In the UK the average freelancer spends 20 days chasing late payments, that’s an estimated £16.5 billion of lost income.
What makes Skwish different from other project management tools on the market?
Simply put, because Skwish is designed for freelancers, by a team of freelancers who understand how freelancers work. There are many, in fact over 300 ‘project management’ tools on the market that can help freelancers; many self-employed, start-ups and freelancers use the likes of Trello, Asana and Wrike however; none of these a were built specifically for the freelance market and include tools for feedback, client management, quoting and income tracking.
What are the key differences between Skwish and online freelance platforms such as upwork.com?
There is no comparison to Upwork, that's a platform for work/hire whereas Skwish is a platform where the work can be carried out; freelancers can manage the clients they have from Upwork, Freelancer, PeoplePerHour etc.
How does Skwish cater for all types of freelancer?
Skwish was built by freelancers working in a range of professions; from marketing to web development and photography. At Skwish we know it's important to listen to our users; if there's a feature freelancers need we'll create an integration or build a feature in.
How would you describe the team at Skwish?
We are a founding team of three – with three offices, as we all work remotely. We communicate daily via Skwish as active users, and through the tools, we’ve used for years like Slack (all of which will be integrated with Skwish as we travel through the development roadmap). We also have a small number of regular freelancers that we hire, again all remote. As a team, we tend to meet face to face as often as possible to plan how to make the tool even better for freelancers. This works really well for us and I guess is a testimony to how the vast majority of our user base work.
Cheers Mille and we look forward to hearing more about Skwish as the platform develops and grows.
