Silicon Milkroundabout plans biggest technology job event yet

by Startacus Admin
Date for the diary - the UK’s largest jobs fair for tech professionals set to take place later this month and will feature NEXT GEN, a new event for Graduates and new entrants.
Silicon Milkroundabout, the biannual jobs fair for mid to senior level technology professionals will open its doors to a record number of job-seekers this year, as well as over 150 companies seeking software engineers, product managers, developers and other highly coveted tech professionals. It’s held at the Truman Brewery on Brick Lane, East London on 19th and 20th November. The event is free to attend for those seeking jobs but tickets are only issued to those who are mid-senior level and have relevant tech skills and experience to match what the companies are looking for. Candidates can apply at siliconmilkround.com
For the first time this year, Silicon Milkroundabout will also incorporate a new event called NEXT GEN, specialising in helping people get started with a career in tech, taking place at the same venue on Friday 18th November. This event was created as Silicon Milkroundabout saw companies increasingly focusing their hiring on mid to senior levels but that a disproportionate number of grads, juniors and career switchers were applying to the event and unable to find suitable roles. As well as potentially helping them find their first role, NEXT GEN aims to provide a wider arrange of help, support and guidance to attendees.
Liam Reynolds, CEO, Silicon Milkroundabout said: “It’s extremely tough out there for grads and those just starting out. As well as facing increasing cost of living and record levels of student debt, there’s also a noticeable and worrying lack of entry level roles available to them. They’ve come through on the promise that a career in tech is the path to a bright future. However they’ve been sadly let down as the entry level roles have simply failed to materialise. So our NEXT GEN event has been created to tackle this and start shining a light on this issue.”
Silicon Milkroundabout is the UK’s largest and best loved tech jobs fair. Over 11 years and 23 events, they have introduced over 100,000 attendees to companies including Snap, Deep Mind, Google, Amazon, TikTok, Monzo, Farfetch and Starling Bank. They are proud to have helped grow some of the UK's best known startups such as City Mapper, What3words, Songkick, Dice, Cleo AI and Hopin.
Reynolds continued: ‘It's absolutely vital that companies take a forward facing approach and start nurturing and developing emerging talent now to avoid a tech crisis in the future. Less than 5% of job roles at our main Silicon Milkroundabout event are for grads, interns and entry level roles. However we typically see approx 3-4k of them apply to every event. So rather than turn them all down (and let them down), we’ve decided to create a new event specifically for them where they have the opportunity to explore a career in tech with some of the very best tech companies in the UK. We believe companies have a moral obligation to help the next generation get into work, not to mention an economic imperative, so we’re proud to doing our bit with our NEXT GEN eventin helping those just starting out get a foot in the door.”
