Shuttout - the community driven photo marketplace

Shuttout - The community-driven marketplace startup that's adding social value to photographs...

The market for still imagery is estimated to become worth $4 billion by 2020, at 7% growth every year. Everyone with a smartphone is a photographer these days. Our food, our dog, our daily commute becomes art, frozen on our screens and mused over like it’s a Degas. By ourselves. And then we get Likes and comments saying ‘cool’.
In 2018, Instagram alone racked up more than 3 million likes on photos every minute. That’s 4.2 billion per day. But what if all these amateur photographers actually had a chance to turn these Likes into something more for their artistic offerings?
Polish startup Shuttout is gathering data such as the above in order to use it to give social value to photos on their platform. The votes from the Shuttout community on photos will result in social proof that can be used to sell those photos, turning the community into the experts, the judges.
Photographers can choose between two types of contest entry when uploading their images, one free and one paid premium. Premium users stand to win money prizes for their photos at the end of these contests, not only earning well-deserved money for their work, but also helping to promote higher quality work, as competition tends to do.
Since its launch in April 2018, Shuttout has reached over 82,000 users from more than 180 countries and has seen over 76,000 photo uploads. Recently, Shuttout announced the launch of an equity crowdfunding campaign, on leading investment platform Seedrs, in order to raise funds for up-scaling. It has already reached 94% of the £550,000 goal with over £515,000 funded so far.
A community-driven marketplace that uses social proof to make photos more sellable is a great idea and one that we think is...wait for it...picture perfect!
