Sherston - The Popup Village

by Startacus Admin
If you’re a regular visitor to Startacus (and if you’re not why not!), you’ll know that we are a tad fond of the old popup phenomenon. Whether it’s a pop cinema, shop or restaurant - we love ‘em all and we try and do our bit to give them a little publicity and promo when we can.The popup that we’re featuring today though is very different - it’s an entire popup village. Yes. You read that right. An entire village! The village in question is Sherston in Wiltshire. Over the weekend of September 20th - 22nd 2013, the aim is for as many people as possible to get involved and POP up whatever they want in as many places as possible in the village - whether it’s a popup cafe or a popup circus skills class, the possibilities are quite frankly endless.
If you’ve long harboured the notion of becoming a self starter and going it alone, this could be the best way ever of trying it out and giving you a little taster of what it could be like.
Apart from creating a real creative vibrancy in the village, there’s also the added advantage that all profits that are made over the weekend are going to charity. What’s not to love about that!
There is currently an open call for ideas and if you’re interested in getting involved, you’ve got until 5th July 2013 to complete your entry form. We can’t wait to see what innovative and creative ventures shall appear! Who knows, maybe Sherston will start a trend and other villages and towns will follow suit and be taken over by popup culture too.
Here at Startacus, we really hope that’s the case...
