Shapeways - the 3D marketplace and community

by Startacus Admin
If you’ve already tried your hand at the wonder that is 3D printing, you’ll need no convincing about how important this technology is. But if you haven’t tried it and you’d like to, we know just the place. Now admittedly, we know that there are FabLabs appearing all over the place where you can witness this digital fabrication first hand, however this other ‘place’ that we’re talking of can be used wherever you are in the world. That place? None other than the innovative 3D printing platform, Shapeways.
Shapeways is an online marketplace and community where users can design, manufacture and even buy and sell 3D-printed objects.
Using it to create your own 3D designs couldn’t be easier. Simply create a design, upload it to Shapeways, select the materials of your choice and then get your order fabricated. The Shapeways team ship orders globally so before you know it that design of yours has become a real life product.
Of course where it gets even more interesting is that Shapeways has an inbuilt marketplace where you can sell your designs. Yes. You can have an online store of your own selling products that you have designed and which using cutting edge 3D technology, the team at Shapeways have manufactured. How good is that! Browse through the marketplace currently and you’ll find everything from gadget accessories to board games.
Check out the short video below that gives you a little taster of what Shapeways is all about.
