Serelay - trusted media capture

Serelay - The startup that's created innovative technology to make photos and videos completely verifiable...

It would take an entire article in itself to talk about just how many ways false information and faked images are used to trick and scam people. Falsifying video is getting easier than ever, but altering a static image has been pretty easy for a long time. All it takes is the right software and some skill, and an image can be completely changed without anyone being able to tell the difference. So, how can we ensure that what we’re looking at is genuine?
We’re glad you asked, because we are writing this time about Oxford-based startup Serelay and their trusted media capturing software.
The concept is simple: you take a photo or capture video and Serelay can then be queried for the authenticity of that media. A Trust Report can also be generated to prove the authenticity to a third party. Privacy and security is maintained by Serelay storing only the verification metadata, meaning they cannot view or pass on the content itself, and none of the verification data is attributed to a named user.
Serelay works regardless of data connection quality, with no communication-related delays, and with low data and battery usage.
Serelay is supported by some big names, such as Google, the European Space Agency, and the Centre for Secure Information Technologies at Queen’s University. They already have the 2018 Thames Valley Tech Award for tech startup under their belt, and we can’t imagine it will be their last.
