Scattr Pass-the-parcel App
We took a look at early-stage startup Scattr - the pass the parcel style app that offers users the chance to win brand giveaways from their favourite brands, restaurants and hotels.

Scattr embraces the love of sharing, and Scattr users have the opportunity to pass-on the chance of winning, to their friends and family, should they not bag the giveaway themselves.

Scattr team
The young Northern Ireland based startup is made up of a team of 5 recent graduates, and with Scattr only launching 6 months or so ago, they have to date, wisely focused version one of Scattr on their local marketplace in Derry.  Over the last few months the app has grown to have over 50 registered businesses offering localised brand giveaways and a loyal base of local users.

Once just an idea talked about between CEO Megan Canavan and her dad, the young age of the team seems to work to their benefit when pitching to more established businesses, who perhaps understand the impact that mobile marketing can have on driving audience - both repeat and new, but not the technical ability to do anything meaningful about it.

Scattr“We’re from a generation that can’t be anywhere without their phone and so businesses trust us to know the best way to target their audience; which gives us validity to promote the effectiveness of mobile marketing” explained Kevin Campbell, the sales exec of the team.

The App itself is a pretty simple but effective format - businesses promote themselves via a 10 second advert, with the user initially enticed to watch the 10 second ad because they have the chance to win something from the business, such Scattras meals, activity sessions or gift vouchers.

If you win that’s great, but if you lose, you still get the chance to pass the opportunity on to others. A win-win you would hope, when one of your mates bags that free dinner for two...

Whilst still very early days for the Scattr team, we see the potential for Scattr to scale to other locations and perhaps even be embraced by both UK and Irish wide brands wanting to grow customer engagement in both new and already establishing market places.

With geo-targeting next on the agenda, we look forward to passing on any standout news as they deliver on their future plans. Good luck team Scattr!
