Ribbon - helping businesses to make customer-centric product decisions

by Startacus Admin
London-based startup Ribbon is on a mission to help other businesses better understand their users and build better product experiences.
It’s a pretty obvious, common sense idea that in order to better sell to your customers, you need to better understand your customers. You need to be able to tailor your product to the needs of the customer, and refine it based on feedback, ideally. There are various ways to do this, primarily through simply requesting feedback via surveys or reviews, but it can be hard to balance a means of feedback that is useful to the business but not intrusive and time-consuming for the user.
London-based Ribbon was created to help businesses achieve this better understanding of their customers using rapid user research. With targeted research methods embedded in your product, including questionnaires, surveys, and even interviews, Ribbon can help you create powerful research reports to lay out findings and key data, which can then be taken by your teams to be implemented in updates and iterations. Survey invites can be placed in specific places within the product, with rewards and gifts available to customers as thanks. Questions can be built to be triggered upon specific actions or inactions (such as a user changing their mind about a purchase).
Something particularly unique to Ribbon is the ability to have real-time, moderated video interviews with your real customers, easily inviting them to participate right away or scheduling one for when it’s convenient. This allows for more specific and naturally more targeted questions, and broader understanding of that customer’s actions, user experience, and decisions than can be gained from multiple-choice answers to simple, written questions.
In October, on the launch day of their in-product surveys no less, Ribbon announced that they had raised £2.63 million in funding in a seed round led by Octopus Ventures, with participation from MMC Ventures and Concept Ventures. These last two VCs have also previously backed Ribbon in 2021, during their pre-seed round, which raised £200k. This funding will go towards growing their team and expanding the platform.
