Reward-based App ‘Glued’ Targets Device Dependency

by Startacus Admin
Did you ever imagine that the cure to your family's device dependency could lay within your device?
Complete madness.
‘Glued’ is a new reward-based app for mobile devices like smartphones and tablets that keeps family’s device usage in-check by monitoring screen time and rewarding points to parents and kids for positive device usage, downtime and sticking to daily limits.
We came across them recently at the AppsWorld Startup LaunchPad pitching event in London, where Startacus co founder Alastair Cameron was sitting on the judging panel. He was rather intrigued by the idea of finding tech based solutions to tech addictions… a rather an ironic little app whose success will be based on how little people use its host device!
But how much of a problem is device addiction?
We were astounded to learn that the average child born today is expected to spend 1 entire year of their life staring at a screen by the time they turn 7.
It’s something which most parents are concerned about, but at the risk of familial discord tend to ignore in favour of a harmonious life. Glued app is intended as an alternative to the standard ‘ignore the problem’ solution, which puts a positive spin on the issue and injects an element of fun into proceedings.
The idea is that it will be a whole family affair, with parents as much as children being encouraged to earn points based on positive device usage and achievable daily limits. Watch their explainer video for a more detailed explaination.
Crowdfunding
The Glued team lead by co-founder and CEO Nick Kuh are currently in the process of crowdfunding via seedres and have already exceeded their investment target substantially, having raised almost £60K against a £25K target!
The best of luck to all of the team at Glued!
