Renoon - sourcing sustainable fashion with ease

Renoon is an Amsterdam-based startup that's created an innovative online tool to make sustainable fashion more readily accessible for all
The fashion industry has more of an impact on the environment than you might imagine. It is actually considered by the UN Conference on Trade and Development to be the second largest polluting industry in the world, responsible for a full 10% of annual global carbon emissions and gulping up more than 1.5 trillion litres of water per year and polluting vast quantities of it in the process.
The obvious solution to this is to move towards sustainable fashion, which many in the industry have done; however, not only is this not a big enough push, but actually getting hold of sustainable fashion is not as easy as it could be.
Amsterdam-based startup Renoon is aiming to tackle this issue and make sustainable fashion more readily accessible. As we all know, we as people are pretty lazy (and busy), and the harder something is to find, the less likely people in general will be to make the effort to look. Renoon is a specialised search engine specifically for sustainable fashion; a first of its kind, making other fashion businesses’ hard work to make the industry more sustainable pay off by helping their products to actually reach consumers. With this accessibility will come wider adoption of the concept of sustainable alternatives.
Renoon also features content available only to its userbase, including cotton-alternative shoes; allows you to easily find clothing rental; makes searching for pre-owned clothes distinct; and generally makes it easier to look for exactly what you want, with more easily specified criteria than you would find through a normal search engine.
Renoon is pre-launching on 16 February, and like any search engine, is completely free to use. In a time that it seems we hear about once a week how the environment is crumbling around us quicker than we thought, anything and everything that helps us to move to sustainable, environmentally-friendly alternatives to everyday products, from fashion to plastics items, is of huge value.
