Recruitment startup Otta aims to put the job-seeker first

The recruitment startup, Otta, that puts the job-seeker first and only provides the most relevant and personalised job recommendations...
Last year, we featured a number of recruitment startups, from Candidate.ID, to Talentful, to Dolphin. This is a sector that will always be relevant, and in which disruption and innovation will always be welcome, so why not continue to highlight such tech startups in 2020?
London-based recruitment startup OTTA is the first for this decade, with their jobseeker-centric platform that aims to take a piece of this £35 billion industry.
Otta say that they go beyond traditional job search by enriching jobs with additional data, and by gathering real-time feedback from job seekers on what they like and dislike. Information on the companies’ mission, founders, and relevant articles can help you to make more informed decisions.
They only allow posts directly from companies, rather than from recruiters, who are sometimes more interested in their fee than what is best for the jobseeker. They also do not have sponsored roles, where companies pay for priority listing, again not necessarily showing the jobseeker what is best for them. In fact, they do not charge companies for listing jobs at all.
OTTA currently lists 379 companies in London, among which candidates with 0-10 years’ experience can search for jobs and internships. These include the likes of Deliveroo, Netflix, Spotify, Monzo, Airbnb, and many more high profile names.
In December, OTTA announced that they had secured £850k in funding, in a seed round led by LocalGlobe and including angel investors such as Paul Forster (co-founder of Indeed), Shakil Khan (early investor in Spotify), Matt Robinson (co-founder of Nested and GoCardless).
This funding will help the startup to perfect their job-seeking platform, and move on to helping with other related issues the workforce often have difficulty with, such as deciding when to move jobs or how much of a pay rise to ask for.
