Pre-seed Investor Seed Haus Invests in Three New Startups

by Startacus Admin
Seed Haus, the Edinburgh based pre-seed investor invests in three new startups working across:
Robotics, AdTech, and MarTech that will now join the incubator as part of their second cohort.
Founded as a response to the lack of startup funding in the Scottish eco-system, Seed Haus believe entrepreneurs need the most help in the early phases of the business’ life cycle, but that the Scottish ecosystem is over-indexed towards public-sector backed support. Co-founded by Calum Forsyth, CEO, and Robin Knox, Chairman, they aim to fill a very real gap in the startup ecosystem and represents one of the only Scotland-based organisations, built on private equity, that supports startups at the pre-seed stage.
Since launching the recruitment process in late 2017, the number of applications to join the six-month Seed Haus programme peaked at over 230, with three successful startups selected for investment, following their strict recruitment process. The three startups selected to join the second cohort are:
Casta Spes Technologies – robotic all-terrain vehicle
JukeBox Labs – trivia-as-a-service platform.
PingGo – media engagement platform, offering a simple and time saving press release writing tool.
The startup founders are awarded pre-seed investment, office space in the Seed Haus incubator, access to infrastructure, and headspace to flourish. Mentorship is provided by the Seed Haus Partners, some of the UK’s leading entrepreneurs and investors.
The stellar roster of investors, Seed Haus Partners, includes: Alistair Forbes, James Watt of BrewDog; Gavin Dutch, Paul Walton, Judy Wilson, Rob Dobson, Paddy Burns, Chris van der Kuyl, Paul Davidson, and Sir Tom Hunter.
Additionally, the startups receive professional services and technical support from a suite of advisors including: MBM Commercial, Johnston Carmichael, Silicon Valley Bank, Amazon AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Hubspot, and many more tech partners.
Calum Forsyth, co-founder and CEO, commented: “We’re delighted to welcome these outstanding founders to the Seed Haus community. The next few months will involve a tremendous amount of work as we double down on building out products and refining user acquisition strategies but we are all very much looking forward to it”.
The inaugural Seed Haus cohort, who are all either in the midst of, or are about to begin fundraising, will work alongside cohort 2 in the incubator space and lend peer support to the incoming startups.
We look forward to seeing how the 2nd cohort progress and best of luck to all three. Exactly the type of startups we'd love to see applying to pitch at this years upSTART startup pitching competition at Digital DNA :)
