Popsa - photobooks using AI tech

by Startacus Admin
Popsa - the innovative app that's using AI to disrupt the photobook market. As printed photographs have given way to digital photos, so the photo album has given way to the photobook. We haven’t lost the desire to have a physical collection of our photographs for posterity, but it has become a little less easy.
That little digital-photo printer is handy, but where did you leave the power cable? It was definitely in that drawer before you moved house, but now it’s disappeared and you only ever got to print one picture! But...anyway… The alternative is to go online to one of the many various outlets to create a photobook - a nice, high quality hardcover book with all of the hilarious pictures of you holding up the Tower of Pisa printed on its pages.
Doing so takes time and skills you may not have, however. You’re probably not a professional designer or book formatting expert, so laying out the pictures in a pleasing way could eat up the majority of your busy day...
Step forward London-based Popsa who wants to eliminate this confusing time-wasting, with an innovative app that's uses AI to help create your next photobook.
By using artificial intelligence, Popsa lets you choose the photos you want to preserve on paper and a few other options such as colour theme, and then it does the hard work for you.
By using date, location, size, image quality, faces present, and relativity, Popsa’s AI can determine the best order to place your photos, how best to group them, if and how to crop them, whether a person in the image needs to be kept front and centre, and all the other mind numbing work you would otherwise have to do yourself. The whole process shouldn’t take more than about 10 minutes, making it a particularly good option when creating a gift.
To date, Popsa has raised £3m in funding, which the team of 11 will use to boost their artificial intelligence and move into other product options. Their next step is to bring the AI to a point where it can choose the best images from your album for you, saving you even more time.
The popularity of photobooks and the ease of having AI do the work for you is a great combination, and we look forward to seeing what products Popsa offer next.
