Polystream becomes an Epic MegaGrants recipient...
Epic Games, creators of Unreal Engine, has awarded a 'MegaGrant' to Polystream, a deep-tech startup and the world’s most scalable real-time 3D content and application delivery platform, to further enhance its content development platform.
The Epic MegaGrants program has been created to support game developers, enterprise professionals, media and entertainment creators, students, educators, and tool developers doing amazing things with Unreal Engine or enhancing open-source capabilities for the 3D graphics community.
Polystream, a deep-tech startup, is the platform that will release unlimited real-time 3D experiences. Unlocking the true potential of real-time 3D, their proprietary Command Streaming technology transforms streaming at scale by moving graphics processing to a user’s own device. By using composable infrastructure in the cloud and edge technology to send commands, Polystream enables content creators the freedom to reach new audiences, changing how the world delivers immediacy, immersion, and interaction on-demand at unlimited scale.
The company was founded in 2015 by Bruce Grove, a cloud gaming veteran who previously headed up Engineering at OnLive and Adam Billyard, ex-founder of Criterion and the inventor of RenderWare. In 2019 the company received a $12 million Series A investment round, led by Intel Capital.
Polystream plans to use its Epic MegaGrant to demonstrate the Unreal Editor running instantly from the cloud levering their groundbreaking Command Streaming technology. By enabling Unreal users’ access to the editor virtually, it opens the door for complete cloud-based workflows, which could expedite innovations and the delivery of immersive experiences.
Bruce Grove, CEO Polystream said “Receiving this MegaGrant has given the team a huge boost as it shows confidence that command streaming is seen as a viable, important step forward in the evolution of streaming. We can now add some finesse to our upcoming showcase that will highlight how we’ve overcome some of the hardest challenges of streaming 3D interactive content at scale.
Specifically, we will be using this MegaGrant to show the Unreal Engine editor running instantly from the cloud, as a desktop native experience, as well as showing some games from our friends.”
Polystream has added Unreal Engine editor to its first public showcase enabling PC users the opportunity to try polystreaming the Unreal Engine editor without any need to download the programme. In one click you can experience a near-native experience of using the Unreal Engine in the cloud.
