Phonebloks- A phone worth keeping?

Phonebloks- A phone worth keeping?
Phones are disposable right?...
Think about it - we spend hundreds and hundreds of pounds on the latest and greatest mobile marvel from one of the tech giants only to find a year later that that little box, which promised so much is suddenly not good enough any more. There are plenty of companies which try to make the most of this sad state of affairs, for example, if you wish you may consider selling it to a phone “recycling” service or to a second-hand electronics store but none of these are actually a solution to our blasé attitude to these expensive items.
More often than not our ‘old` phones are banished into a dusty drawer somewhere, never to be looked at again until next year when their replacements suffer the same inevitable fate.
This is why Startacus is pleased to introduce Phonebloks, an exciting new company which has taken up the daunting challenge of changing our mindset towards mobile devices. It’s an innovative system which bases itself on the desktop computer model, which allows you to upgrade your device by replacing components rather than buying an entirely new unit. Want a better camera? Then simply buy a better camera component! Looking to increase speed? Then a new CPU can be installed in seconds! In fact all the major components of the phone can be simply detached and replaced any time you feel an upgrade is in order! Phonebloks is asking the very sensible question, `why would you throw away a phone that is working fine just to replace one part?`.
We can practically hear you tech savvy Startacarians asking where you can buy one of these super customisable devices and the answer is … nowhere - well not yet at least. Phonebloks is in the process of demonstrating to the global tech giants that there is a need and desire for this product amongst the public - they are doing this through a crowdspeaking platform called Thunderclap.
Thunderclap works in a similar way to a crowdfunding site, but rather than donating money, visitors can register their support for a product or service. When a pre-agreed number of people have registered, Thunderclap will blast out a timed Facebook post or tweet from all its supporters creating a wave of interest...pretty nifty eh? So niffy in fact that we are gonna write an article about this rather handy concept called crowdspeaking too too.
Phonebloks (at the time of writing) have already gained 98% of the 650,000 supporters they need to create their thunderclap wave, so if you like the sound of a phone worth keeping, why not visit the website to learn more and show your support!
