Pexxi - the personalised oral contraception service

by Startacus Admin

The innovative femtech startup that is using AI and genetic testing to provide a tailored oral contraception service for women...

One pill for every woman is simply not a thing. How difficult would it be to ensure that each individual woman gets a pill that works specifically for them, without these side effects?
That is a question that London-based femtech startup Pexxi both asked itself and is answering with its personalised oral contraception service.
The service works in 3 steps. First, there is an online chatbot to ask you some questions to build a picture of your specific mental and physical profile. Then you can optionally order an at-home hormone and genetic test kit, which Pexxi will walk you through and explain the meaning of. After this, you will be provided with a personalised recommendation of pill based on your personal emotional, medical, hormonal, and genetic baselines. Going forward, they will help you to monitor the effects of this pill over time so that you can be proactive in making any necessary changes.
After a difficult period of pitching to investors who couldn’t quite understand the problem being solved, Pexxi closed its Series A funding round in December.
Also in December, they finished their 6-month residency in London’s Google for Startups Residency programme. There, they had access to artificial intelligence advisors, regulatory advisors, and life sciences advisors, all of which were invaluable to Pexxi’s platform, and in particular its 10-minute questionnaire.
This simple service stands to completely change the lives of many women for the significantly better, and we hope to see it expand around the globe.
