Landscape launches OpenScout to empower anyone in Tech with Access to Exciting Startups to Scout for VCs
Landscape, the anonymous review platform for founders to rate interactions with venture capitalists, has just announced details of the upcoming launch of OpenScout, a new scout platform that will enable anybody with access to exciting startups to both share these with investors through their profile and also earn success fees from successful deals.
Joe Perkins, Founder of Landscape, explains, “I want to uncover the best talent spotters of early-stage startups, and build the platform that provides them with everything they need to create a track record, build wealth, and forge a career in venture - no matter what their background is. I believe we have an exciting opportunity to accelerate the rise of solo capitalists across Europe - an exciting trend that we are lagging behind when compared to the US. The proposition for OpenScout is pretty simple really - why scout for one venture firm when you could scout for an entire venture marketplace?"
Officially launching in beta in Q1 2022, 30 scouts have already pre-registered for OpenScout, covering the UK, France, Germany, Ireland, The Nordics, Spain and Ukraine. They are primarily sector agnostic and skewed towards pre-seed and seed and are a mix of founders, community operators, ecosystem leaders, and angel investors. Among the Scouts already registered are: Freddie Fforde, Founder of Patch; Jess Mendoza, Founder of Monadd and OnDeck Fellow; Ryan Brodie, exited Founder and angel investor; Cathy White, a European startup and VC PR expert and angel investor; and Sameer Singh, an Atomico angel and investor.
Commenting on joining Open Scout, Sameer Singh said, “The early-stage venture ecosystem is deeply reliant on personal connections. This is one reason why it’s hard to break into VC, perpetuating the diversity struggles of the industry. OpenScout levels the field. Bringing transparency and enabling productised connections between VCs and scouts. It has the potential to reshape early-stage deal sourcing and subsequently lower entry barriers into the VC ecosystem."
20 Venture Capital firms have also pre-registered to benefit from the Scout platform including 7Percent Ventures, BlueWire Capital, Form Ventures, Haatch, Hoxton Ventures, and Playfair Capital.
