One Step Closer aim to empower change-makers and CSR schemes, transforming sustainability initiatives into empowering talking points.
We have about 10 years to get our collective act together as a species and cut carbon emissions before we hit a point of no return. It’s all well and good for us as individuals to wash our tin cans and recycle the copious amount of wine bottles we collect in our daily struggles to deal with life, but in the end that simply isn’t enough. It’s nice to hand a few coins to a homeless person or donate your old suit to a charity shop, but that’s not going to end poverty and homelessness, is it?
The changes must also come from governments, councils, and corporations for real progress to be made. This last one is called corporate social responsibility, and in the startup world, we come across startups trying to help with this in encouraging numbers.
One such startup is Dublin-based One Step Closer. Their platform helps businesses to keep people informed of what they are doing within the realm of corporate social responsibility, giving these CSR programmes the best chance to be successful.
They work with communications, marketing, and sales departments to develop and coordinate innovative and emotive campaigns to keep the company’s audience on board, be that audience customers, staff, stakeholders, the general public, investors, or whomever else they need to keep informed. Every campaign built is tailor-made but has a shared core focus: to empower change makers.
This is done in a few ways. The first is to allow people to have a say in what goes on. For example, to simply vote on what charity donations should go to. Another is to deliver bite-sized, focused updates on the CSR programmes to keep people apprised but without overwhelming them with essays.
Together with their customers, staff, shareholders and others, corporations have the ability to make a big, positive difference in the world, and with startups like One Step Closer, they have little excuse not to...
