OKRA - using AI analytics for healthcare

by Startacus Admin

Innovation in healthcare thanks to Cambridge based startup OKRA Technologies who are using AI analytics for healthcare...

Artificial intelligence allows startups to help those in the healthcare industry in powerful new and exciting ways. As our startup today says, ‘artificial intelligence is not an isolated field - it is a methodology’, and those businesses who understand this can put AI to great use.
Cambridge-based OKRA Technologies is doing exactly that, allowing healthcare professionals to make efficient, even life-saving decisions quicker, with confidence and accuracy.
OKRA allows healthcare professionals to combine data from a range of complex sources in one place so that its AI can deliver evidence-based insights in real time. Using natural language processing, users can easily ask of this data the questions they need to, receiving quick, actionable answers.
With its algorithms, the AI is able to allow the user to predict future outcomes, thereby empowering them with the foresight necessary in this vital industry.
CEO and creator of much of OKRA’s code, Dr Loubna Bouarfa, first applied her deep research into AI to the operating table, using it to alert surgeons to potential errors in real time, meaning fewer errors actually occurring.
From there, combining artificial intelligence and machine learning with data analytics for wider-scale healthcare prediction was an obvious step. And one that has resulted in OKRA closing a Series A round for $4.2m just last year, working now with 3 of the world’s top 10 pharmaceutical companies, and Dr Bouarfa sitting on the EU High-Level Expert Group for AI.
