Oddball - make music on the go

by Startacus Admin
Make music on the go with Oddball - The bouncing ball that helps you express yourself by making music on the go..

London-based OddBall wants to change that, by giving you a way of making music that doesn’t require instrumental talent. OddBall is literally a ball that connects via Bluetooth to your phone. Sensors inside the ball are pressure sensitive and just by bouncing it, you can play and record sounds on your phone. From tapping it with your finger to throwing it at the wall, the harder you bounce it, the more intense the sound.
The companion to the ball is the free app, on which you can choose the sound the ball will trigger from an expansive library (as well as adding your own sounds), record and loop the beat, play songs over which you can add your own sounds, and make complex and intricate tunes. The app allows you to experiment with different effects, change BPM of recorded beats, and add more balls, which allows you to create unique beats and create music with friends.
Of course, once your masterpiece has been created, it is instantly shareable straight from the app. OddBall is also applicable as a MIDI controller, and is compatible with software such as Logic Pro, Pro Tools, and GarageBand iOS.
The OddBall Kickstarter campaign is running until August 23, but it has already surpassed its £30,000 goal by - at the time of writing - £12,000. We think this is a unique and inventive idea, and the number of backers speaks for itself: people want to make music by throwing something at a wall.
