Nourished - the personalised and 3D-printed vitamin startup

The lowdown on Nourished, the Birmingham-based healthtech startup that's on a mission to change the way the world thinks, buys and experiences nutrition
With our diets and our lack of sunshine in the UK, it’s of no surprise that a lot of people, adults and children, have insufficient levels of vitamin B2, vitamin D, vitamin A, zinc, magnesium, potassium, copper, iron, selenium, and iodine. Much of this can be addressed by improving diets, and a little better education, but the most common and easiest way of getting more of the vitamins and minerals we need is via supplements.
The problem with some supplements is that not only are they not customised to your personal needs, but they can have sat on a shelf for months before they get to you, which means they are less effective and the recommended dose might not be what it is supposed to be. So how can one solution combine all of these things?
Birmingham-based healthtech startup Nourished might have the answer. The startup provides not only a range of vitamin gummy ‘stacks’, but also the option to personalise them based on your answers to a short quiz about how you are feeling and what your short-term goals are (e.g. feeling more energised, losing weight, sleeping better, etc.).
Whether you choose the custom stacks or not, they are freshly 3D printed in the startup’s UK lab, meaning that you get a minimum of 99.5% of the full nutritional value. The gummy base is formulated from erythritol, pectin, and maltitol so that no sugar is necessary, and all ingredients are vegan certified, free from all major allergens, and Halal and Kosher friendly. And as you might expect from a startup that cares about both body and planet, the packaging is 100% plastic free, 90% recycled or made from unique wood pulp plastic-like material, and is compostable or recyclable. Even the text is printed in bio-ink!
In June, Nourished launched Nourished Kids, made - as the name may suggest - specifically for children and their needs. With this one, you will run through the quiz to ensure a personalised stack for your child, rather than having the choice to pick a pre-blended product, making sure it’s exactly what they need.
